EVENTSThe Northern Fibres Guild has regular monthly meetings, held on the second Tuesday of each month (Jan-June, Sept-Dec) at 7pm in the TC Richards Building at 302 Steele St. in downtown Whitehorse. You will find us downstairs!
In addition, the NFG regularly organizes workshops in the fibre arts, drawing on both local and outside artists and artisans as instructors. Other events for NFG members include pot-luck socials in June and December, informal knitting circles and dye days, and an annual weekend retreat held in the spring. |
2024 is our 50th Anniversary and we have been celebrating!Threads of Change exhibitOur anniversary exhibit, Threads of Change: Celebrating 50 years of the Northern Fibres Guild, is being hosted in the community gallery at the Yukon Art Centre for December through January. There will be an art opening from 5-7 pm on Thursday, 28 Nov. 2024.
The centrepiece of the exhibit is our Yukon Climate Stripes tapestry, which was collectively woven by ~30 NFG members during July at the Jenni House arts residency in Whitehorse. Come check out this amazing piece of collaborative creation, and the many additional inspiring pieces made by our members. Golden Anniversary Socials:
We have held five socials this year for past, present and new members to come out and socialize. It was great to meet up with everyone!
